I’m writing this blog post for one reason, and one reason only. I simply hate packing to go away. It’s amazing how many things I will find to do other than pack. Let’s take today for example. So far I have fixed a load of shelving, fixed some things in the kitchen, telephoned some people and even painted the shelves I put up, all because I hate packing my stuff in various suitcases. Crazy isn’t it?
To be honest it isn’t simply a case of throwing a few things in a suitcase, oh no, that would be too easy. This is full on packing on steroids, somehow I need to fit a colour laser printer, a microwave???? and even set of tonor for that laser printer. We are even considering taking the kids bikes. All in all our luggage allowance is a 1/3 of a tonne and we are well on our way to using all of it.
Lots of people see me as someone who gets things done. Well in some ways I am, BUT, it means that there is an awful lot of stuff that doesn’t get done instead. I am the master of procrastination in some ways. Jude always says that once I have a cup of tea in my hand, I have the application of a council workman (that’s probably being unkind to council workmen as well).
Life is like a balancing act, where so many people put so many demands on you. I’ve learnt to try and pick and choose what I take on and what I do not take on. There will always be things that you never get around to doing and maybe that is just OK. Yes you heard it, don’t worry about it, forget about it, it was probably never helpful anyway. Ancient wisdom says there is a time for everything, well maybe it was not that task’s or thing’s time?
Problem is I’m running out of things to say about packing and well maybe my procrastination is about to end. There’s an awful lot of boxes and an awful lot of stuff to cram into cases and bags. Maybe I’ll just go to bed instead……… it’s after midnight after all.
